Fatty Liver in Agra: What an Ultrasound Result Really Means
Fatty liver is common, but an ultrasound alone does not show the full severity of liver disease.
An ultrasound report that mentions fatty liver is common, especially in people with excess weight, diabetes, high triglycerides or metabolic syndrome. The important next question is not simply “Do I have fatty liver?” but “What is my risk of inflammation or fibrosis?”
What an ultrasound can and cannot tell you
Ultrasound can suggest fat accumulation in the liver, but it does not reliably stage fibrosis. Clinical history, liver enzymes, metabolic risk, platelet count and, when indicated, fibrosis assessment may be required.
When specialist assessment is useful
Persistent abnormal liver enzymes, diabetes, obesity, a history of alcohol use, family history of liver disease or signs of chronic liver disease deserve structured evaluation rather than repeated “liver tonic” use.
What treatment usually focuses on
Management depends on the cause and overall risk. Weight reduction when appropriate, diabetes control, blood pressure and lipid management, avoidance of unnecessary hepatotoxic products and regular follow-up are common components of care.
